a belated update

our sincerest apologies for not updating the site in a few days, we got so carried away living our lives we almost forgot to tell you what we’ve been up to!

here’s the news since Thursday …

the action at St David’s didn’t quite go as planned but was fun none the less – we basically threw handfuls of paper birds (that had peaceful messages written on the wings) off the balcony ledges in the shoppingt centre and got chased out by security, so we took the remaining birds to the Capitol centre and then snuck sneakily back into St David’s for the last few … we’re not entirely convinced many people picked them up and read them, but they did flutter down through the air quite nicely and we’re hoping at least one person smiled at the sight of them (:
then we danced home in the rain and had a quiet evening in, hurray!

we were a bit late getting up yesterday (lazy Gremlins!) but the stage was set on time for our third open mic night and it was nice to see some fresh faces … although not many people performed this week, we had some amazing people come round when the music had finished to have fun in the space, and it turned into a bit of a midnight art party … some extra graffiti-ing was done, trolley and go-kart racing occured downstairs, we all chilled out and chatted deep philosophical nonsense until the small hours of the morning, and vague plans were made to host an actual free-party on this coming Wednesday (August 22nd, TBC – watch this space!)

in OTHER news – we received a letter today from the courts saying we owe them over 200£, and we’re expected to pay this by 4pm on Tuesday 28th August … even if we had any of this money we’d be incredibly reluctant to pay, and so we’re expecting there to be a potential eviction attempt either that day or the morning after

we’re a little bit worried about this, but hopefully we’ll have enough support to physically resist and keep possession of the building a little bit longer … if not, this really could be the beginning of the end
i know we’ve said this before, but at some point it’s going to be true

so if you want to help save the building formerly known as Spin Bowling, City Road, Cardiff, please get in touch with us expressing your concerns (see contact us page for details) or come down, see the space and say hello! (see how to find us for more information)

on a slightly brighter note, maybe next week we’ll have photos from last night’s gig!
we don’t believe in clocks, we run on our own time!
screw you Serco …

love and rage

About Gremlin Alley Social Centre

We are a newly squatted social centre in the heart of City Road, Cardiff, and we have hopes of turning the derelict, disused space of what was formerly known as 'Spin Bowling' into the flourishing heart of a newly-blosomed community. We have been resisting eviction since 4th October 2012.
